Hello everybody! The thing is, on Mount & Blade I got to the village of Ruvar (newly conquered by Khergit Khanate) as her lord. I always attended to her when asking the village elder what I can do for him, always had something (such as packages of wheat, bandits, cattle.) and I have fulfilled all.

Hell, I don't even know anymore. The more I read about it the more confused I get. The only consensus I can read is that you want more caravans to arrive in your cities and villages.Strangely enough TweakMB on native 1.158 lists the prosperity gain from carvans as a greyed out '0', which either means that TweakMB doesn't know how to modify that value or there is no prosperity benefit. All the rest of the info I can find is basically speculation from 4 years ago, a little snippet of code that seems to indicate that trade averages the price of goods between two towns, and someone's theory that having less villages trade with the town is better.

But that's it.Overall, though, you're going to want to keep your villages from being looted so you get the rent and recruits from them.Obviously you can't be everywhere at once and the AI seems to want nothing more than to watch villages burn. So in the long run it seems like the best way to stay profitable is to just keep expanding, taking more land, and letting the villages/towns do what they will. You're doing everything right but yeah.Caravans have to make it to and into the city. If other lords are killing caravans of the enemy and they don't make it to your city.Village farmers have to make it to and from your city. If bandits or again, other lords are messing with them or even with lords raiding the villages them selves so they can't send the farmers.Doing missions for the guild master help a lot.But prosperity takes a long time, especially if the town was changed hands or sieged a lot before and starts off at the extreme poor end. With diplomacy, you can change the way the town is taxed to give them a break and help them get back on top, before taxing them more later when they get rich. Pretty sure the prosperity of a town/castle is linked to the prosperity of its villages.

If the villages are dirt poor then its likely the town will be as well. Prosperity takes awhile to build up but its easy to lose if your village gets sacked. Make sure the area is safe so caravans+farmers can go back and forth without dying, prevent villages from being looted, lower taxes, improvements like mills help, and do village quests.

If your rich enough you could buy/sell a bunch of stuff to give the villages a lot of $$ (70-80k). After a couple days the village should see a decent prosperity boost depending on how much you put into it. Although it feels a bit cheaty but you could RP it as donating $$ to the villages.
